17. Timothy Treadwell Killed By What He Loved
Timothy Treadwell loved grizzly bears. In fact, his passion for bears bordered on obsession, as he felt more at ease with them in the wild than among humans. This is what led him to live among them for 13 summers in the Alaskan wilderness, recording all of his interactions on his trusty video camera. His camera also captured the fateful day he and his girlfriend were killed by them in October 2003, revealing the heartbreaking transformation of a bear enthusiast into prey.
The chilling six-minute audio documented the bear attack that claimed their lives, and you can hear Treadwell yell, “Come out here! I’m being killed.” Overall, his screams can be heard over two-thirds of the six-minute tape. Their remains were found nearby, a grim reminder of their devotion to wildlife.
18. A Bold Climber on the 72nd Floor of a Skyscraper
This British man called George King-Thompson is a free climber and, in 2023, he was spotted climbing Lotte World Tower, the fifth-tallest skyscraper in the world located in Seoul.
The man had reached 1,020ft high when he was apprehended by police and told them he wished to base-jump from the pinnacle of the building after authorities noticed he was carrying a parachute. Way to say they caught him before any sort of tragedy could happen.
